The Women’s Equality Day celebration at the Swan Boats on August 24, 2017 featured the unveiling of the Women’s Suffrage Panels that are on display at the Commonwealth Museum. Secretary of State William Galvin was the keynote speaker. In honor of Women’s Equality Day, the Zakim Bridge was awash in purple, white and gold, and the “BOSTON” lights of City Hall were purple the night of August 26, 2017.
The Women's Suffrage Celebration Coalition (WSCC, formerly Committee) has sponsored events annually since its inception in 2010. The first event was to commemorate the 90th Anniversary of the 19th Amendment in 2010.

The Women’s Suffrage Celebration Coalition (WSCC) and guests attended an advance screening of the feature film “Hidden Figures.” The film was introduced by then Boston City Councilor-at-Large Ayanna Pressley. January 4, 2017.
On August 26, 2016, the Women’s Suffrage Celebration Coalition and the Boston Mayor’s Office for the Advancement of Women celebrated the 96th anniversary of the 19th Amendment at the Swan Boats. Massachusetts Treasurer Deborah Goldberg and Massachusetts State Representative Denise Provost were our featured speakers.
In celebration of the 95th Anniversary of Women’s Suffrage, WSCC hosted a screening of the feature film “Suffragette.” Director Sarah Gavron participated in a question and answer session following the screening. October 22, 2015.
The Swan Boats continued to provide a perfect setting for celebrating Women’s Equality Day in 2012, 2013 and 2014.
On April 26, 2011, the City of Boston, Boston Women’s Heritage Trail, and the WSCC joined together at the Swan Boats in Boston to celebrate Women’s Equality Day, to designate the Swan Boats as a Boston Landmark Showcase, and to follow the new Boston Women’s Heritage Trail map with a stroll through a portion of the trail.
